The current law might seem fair when it comes to child restraints in cars. At the moment, children under the age of three must be restrained in a vehicle by one
But according to the Department for Transport, child ( cheap mortgages ) restraints can save the lives and prevent injuries of 2000 children, which is why the Government has moved to introduce new laws that will swing into force in September. From then, children aged between three and 11 who are under the height of 135cm will have to sit in a child seat or a booster when they are travelling in a car. A booster is a device that is to be used with an adult seatbelt. Children from the age of 11 up to the age 14 must wear a seatbelt. The responsibility for these rules falls on the driver. If you do not keep to this law you could be liable for a { life assurance } fine of up to £30 and if the case goes to court, those costs could rocket to £500. The only exceptions are if there is an emergency, you are travelling in a car without any seatbelts or you child is a passenger in a taxi. Even worse, if you have an accident when your child is in the car ( secured loans ) and you do not have them fitted in the adequate device, your insurance company may not pay out the money. It might be a daunting thought for those who have spent years paying out their car insurance only to be refused a claim at their greatest time of need. |
